Born in 1936, Carolyn Hart knew she wanted to be a journalist at age 11. In 1958, she graduated from college and began working as a reporter for The Norman Transcript in Oklahoma until the birth of her son.
But she didn’t stop writing. Shortly after her daughter was born, Carolyn won a contest looking for mystery novels that teenage girls would find appealing.
That launched a career that focused on young adult mystery novels until 1972. From there, she shifted to stand-alone suspense and mystery books, enjoying success with the Death on Demand series.
Over the course of her career, Carolyn Hart has written 63 novels and was honored as a Grand Master by the Mystery Writers of America. If you’re wondering where to begin with her work, here is an extensive guide to her books.

Death on Demand

Only solving the crime might be more dangerous than accepting her fate in prison. It just might kill her.

Ghost at Work

She can help with investigations, which is good because Kathleen, the pastor’s wife, can use it. She found a dead man on her porch, and her husband is the main suspect.
And if Bailey has to break a few rules in the Department of Good Intentions to help Kathleen save her family, so be it. After all, that’s why she was sent to help. Now, she just has to figure out how.

There is no shortage of motives, but when she discovers a new will, she thinks she’s finally making progress. So, of course, a hurricane would hit, trapping them on the island.
