Infamous horror director Eli Roth is taking on the classic 1974 revenge thriller, Death Wish—and the trailer for the new film promises a wild ride. Both the 1974 original and this remake are based on Brian Garfield’s 1972 novel of the same name.

Death Wish stars Bruce Willis as Dr. Paul Kersey, a mild man pushed into violence by an attack on his family. After Kersey’s wife is killed and daughter brutally assaulted by home intruders, he decides to take on the criminals of the world, with or without the help of the police.

At first, Kersey limits himself to those that hurt his family. But soon, he’ll branch out to ridding the entire city of any criminal that crosses his path.

Death Wish also stars Vincent D’Onofrio and Dean Norris (Breaking Bad). The trailer for the 2017 adaptation assures viewers that this take will be just as heart-pounding, even as Roth presents his own take on the material.

Small changes are present even in the trailer. This adaptation is set in Chicago, rather than New York like the previous film and the novel; Kersey is a surgeon rather than an architect. Other changes are sure to come as well, but the spirit remains the same. Check out the first trailer below—then try out the first film and the novel before Death Wish is released, March 2, 2018.
