Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is back. The CIA agent who first appeared on screen in The Hunt for Red October has made many appearances on the big screen, but his latest adventure will be seen on the small screen in a thrilling new series produced by Amazon.
This new series will feature John Krasinski stepping into some rather large shows as Jack Ryan. Krasinski, who is best known for his roles in The Office and A Quiet Place, will be the fifth actor to portray the CIA agent. Over the years, Alec Baldwin has played Jack Ryan in The Hunt for Red October, Harrison Ford in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, Ben Affleck in The Sum of All Fears, and, finally, Chris Pine in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.
Each iteration has had its own take on the iconic character: Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan appears to be a sort of origin story, showing just how Ryan went from desk jockey to covert operations expert.
Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan is set to premiere on August 31st. Amazon is so confident that the show will thrill audiences that they have already confirmed a second season, due out sometime in 2019.
Watch the trailer, below, for a peak at the beginning of Jack Ryan’s journey out from behind his desk. When asked how a lowly analyst is the only one to have knowledge of a powerful new terrorist, Ryan simply answers, “I was just following the money, sir.” He'll soon find himself thrust into a new milieu, chasing terrorists around the globe in a high-octane attempt to save the world.
