There's no shortage of streaming services out there to keep our minds busy. But when it comes to mysteries, none have quite the selection Paramount Plus boasts.
Looking beyond the long list of beloved procedurals like CSI, NCIS, FBI, Hawaii Five-O, Blue Bloods, and any subsequent spin-offs, there's a series out there for every kind of intrigue lover.
Here are eight of the best mystery shows on Paramount Plus!
Criminal Minds
I may have just breezed over numerous police procedurals, but Criminal Minds has that little something extra. There's a darkness you don't typically see in this kind of show, and yet all of the characters feel like old friends.
The series follows a group of FBI profilers working in the Behavioral Analysis Unit. Looking toward the psyche of criminals, these investigators try not only to solve crimes, but to stop suspects before they strike again. With 16 seasons on Paramount Plus, you'll never be bored again.
So Help Me Todd
A relatively new series, So Help Me Todd, which premiered in 2022, adds some levity to this list. Attorney Margaret Wright (Marcia Gay Harden) hires her P.I. son, Todd (Skylar Astin), to be her firm's in-house investigator.
While Todd's methods are often successful, his unconventionality clashes with Margaret's meticulous by-the-book nature.
Dexter
Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) isn't your typical blood spatter analyst. While he spends his days working for the Miami Metro Police Department, his nights are spent seeking vigilante justice.
He's a serial killer who kills serial killers, an anti-hero with a strict code. But his extracurricular activities don't stay separate from his personal life for long.
The follow-up series, Dexter: New Blood, is also available on Paramount Plus!
School Spirits
Do you like a bit of the fantastical in your mysteries? School Spirits may be just the show for you! Teenage Maddie (Peyton List) finds herself in the afterlife, but that doesn't mean she doesn't still have to go to school.
Now as she investigates her own mysterious disappearance, she uncovers more lies and secrets with every truth she unravels.
Elsbeth
A spin-off of The Good Wife and The Good Fight (both of which are available on Paramount Plus!), Elsbeth follows quirky attorney Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston).
Following some controversial arrests by the NYPD, Elsbeth is brought in as a de facto detective. Her unique perspective on things helps her catch criminals alongside the real cops.
Flashpoint
Add a dash of action to your mystery viewing with Flashpoint. Drawing inspiration from Toronto's real Emergency Task Force, this series follows a group of top-notch cops in the Strategic Response Unit.
In extreme and high-pressure situations, these individuals must make life or death decisions in a matter of seconds, facing off against everything from bomb threats to hostage crises.
Limitless
A continuation of the 2011 movie of the same name, this series picks up four years later. Brian Finch (Jake McDorman) is a typical 28-year-old man. As a struggling musican, he may even be worse off than average.
But when he's given the miracle drug NZT-48, he suddenly has access to the full scope of his brain power. Now the smartest man in the world, he's recruited by the FBI to consult on their most difficult crimes.
Why Women Kill
More of a crime series than a mystery, this darkly comedic anthology show is great for anyone who loves a reverse whodunit. Following women across different time periods, Why Women Kill takes a peek at the violent things women do in response to unforgivable betrayals.
With stars like Ginnifer Goodwin, Lucy Liu, and Allison Tolman at the forefront, you won't want to miss this riveting series.
