They say the key to a healthy relationship is common interests, and Alfred Hitchcock and Alma Reville had plenty, like psychotic killers, disturbing murders, and shocking moviegoers around the globe.

“Hitchcock and his wife were ideally suited to each other,” says Stephen Rebello, author of Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho. The celebrated filmmaker did nothing without first consulting his wife–they were the rare Hollywood power couple that could actually work together.

Hitchcock may have been one of the best directors of all time, but Reville was certainly one of the best film editors. The two often collaborated on scripts, cuts, edits, and ideas.
