The Lincoln Lawyer first premiered on Netflix in 2022. The legal drama follows indomitably idealistic lawyer Mickey Halley (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), who runs a legal practice in out of the trunk of his Lincoln Town Car.

With the help of his ex-wife and legal aid, Lorna Crane (Becki Newton), he takes on all kinds of cases in the mean city of Los Angeles.

Since its premiere, the series has produced two more seasons, with the third season airing this past October. This past season saw the stakes get higher than ever for Mickey and his associates (careful—spoilers ahead). The season opens with Mickey defending a new client, Julian La Cosse (Devon Graye), arrested on charges of murder.

What begins as a standard case seeps into the rest of the prosecutors’ lives as a season of love, lust, guilt, and revenge culminates in a shocking twist that leaves Mickey himself on the defense—and facing jail time.

The series has not yet officially been renewed for a fourth season, but the showrunners already have a plan for it. For starters, although the case of Julian La Cosse may be closed, its implications will continue to stretch into season four.

The showrunners have also hinted that they have a solution for the absence of Mickey’s half-brother Harry Bosch, an important character in the series by Michael Connelly with his own spinoff series.

Since Amazon Prime Video currently owns the rights to Harry’s character amid the production of their TV adaptation of that spinoff series, Bosch, the character is absent from The Lincoln Lawyer TV show.

So far, the show has been able to manage without Harry, but since he has a major role in the Connelly book, The Law of Innocence, off which season four is largely based, the showrunners have officially teased the entrance of a new character to replace him.

In the meantime, you might enjoy The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly, in which the origin story of defense attorney Mickey Halley is revealed.
