The gripping mystery movie  Knives Out hit theater back in 2019, raking in big bucks at the box office, earning rave reviews, and acquiring a deeply loyal audience. With its masterful balance of drama, comedy, and intrigue, this tightly woven story with deeply human characters was unlike anything the big screen has ever seen. Brilliant Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) arrives on the sprawling Thrombey estate after the highly suspicious "suicide" of their patriarch, Harlan (Christopher Plummer). As he delves into the twisted case of this late, great mystery writer, Blanc recruits the man's private nurse, Marta (Ana de Armas), as her penchant for vomiting when she lies makes her a trustworthy asset.

The movie became an instant hit, and now audiences are lucky enough to be getting a second installment in this burgeoning franchise! Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery premieres on December 23rd—but what's it about and what can we expect? Read on for more information and an exciting first look!

While Detective Blanc will once again take point in this film, the Thrombey family, as can be expected, will not be making a return. In fact, even this film's setting is a drastic change. Taking a step away from the gloomy landscape of New England, Glass Onion is set in sunny and beautiful Greece. After tech mogul Miles Bron (Edward Norton) invites his friends for an exciting, puzzle-filled getaway on his private Mediterranean island, it's not long before someone turns up dead. Fortunately—or unfortunately, for some—Blanc's unique mind is on the case.

Even more big names fill out this killer cast, with Kate Hudson in the role of Birdie Jay, Dave Bautista in the role of Duke Cody, Janelle Monáe in the role of Cassandra Brand, Kathryn Hahn in the role of Claire Debella, Leslie Odom Jr. in the role of Lionel Toussaint, Jessica Henwick in the role of Peg, and Madelyn Cline in the role of Whiskey. Ethan Hawke is also credited as being in the movie, but no further information is available in regards to his role.

With Rian Johnson at the helm of the film, he will once again work with talented cinematographer Steven Yedlin, as he has on every feature film Johnson's directed.

Glass Onion will exclusively hit Netflix on December 23rd—and viewers can expect a third installment of the franchise on the streaming service in the future. In the meantime, check out the first teaser trailer below, promising a movie filled with more laughs, more mystery, and far more danger.
