Since Knives Out hit theaters in 2019, audiences have been captivated by Rian Johnson's gripping world of mystery.
With its intricate and clever plot, vivid cast of suspects, and eccentric and charismatic leading detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), it seemed as though no mystery movie could ever come close to the perfection that was Knives Out. Then, after making an exclusive shift to Netflix, the sequel film Glass Onion blew the original out of the water.
With the promise of more films in the franchise to come, fans have anxiously been awaiting news. On May 24th, we got our first crumbs with the title announcement of Johnson's follow-up film: Wake Up Dead Man.
Now we've got our first casting announcements for the project.
Unsurprisingly, Daniel Craig has been confirmed to be returning to the film as Benoit Blanc. Sources have reported, with Johnson's confirmation, that the cast also includes Josh O'Connor (Challengers), Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), Andrew Scott (Sherlock), Kerry Washington (Scandal), and Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction), Jeremy Renner (Wind River), Mila Kunis (Luckiest Girl Alive), and Daryl McCormack (The Woman in the Wall). No information as to the characters they will be playing has been released.
Lauded as Blanc's “most dangerous case yet,” Wake Up Dead Man is set to hit Netflix sometime in 2025. While no indications of a plot line have come forth, speculation has begun that the film might have a more supernatural angle.
On Twitter, Johnson has promised more information on the project will be released soon. We at Murder & Mayhem will keep an eye out and update you here as news breaks!
