Author of over 60 novels within the romantic suspense genre, Lynette Eason has crafted beloved stories influenced by her Christian faith that have won her the Selah Award, the Carol Award, and the Golden Scroll Award among others. Her books have also appeared on the USA Today, Publisher’s Weekly, CBA, ECPA, and Parable bestseller lists, and one of her books, Her Stolen Past, was made into a Lifetime movie.
Having loved reading growing up, she soon realized her enthusiasm for writing and began crafting stories in 1999 after she spent time working at a school for children who were deaf and blind (fun fact: she is fluent in American Sign Language!). When she isn’t writing, she is sharing her expertise at writing conferences throughout the country and is a proud member of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), Mystery Writers of America (MWA), International Thriller Writers (ITW), and Faith, Hope, and Love.
She resides in South Carolina with her husband and two adult children and not only expresses her creativity with writing but also photography by working as a Certified Professional Photographer to capture her clients’ cherished moments.
We spoke to the author about her latest novel, Countdown, the fourth and final conclusion to the Extreme Measures series, which follows a flight paramedic wishing to escape her past and rid herself of a threatening stalker and a U.S. Marshal willing to put everything on the line to protect her. We had the pleasure of speaking with her about her new book, the inspiration behind her writing, and how she integrates her Christian faith within her storytelling. Countdown
I’d love to know more about you and your writing and reading interests to get our audience up to speed!
Hi, I really enjoy reading Romantic Suspense–obviously. I also love historical and split time stories. I’m actually working on a split time one (not contracted or anything, just for fun) and am anxious to see how it turns out. :)
Life Flight
Lynette, you’ve written over 60 books—an incredible achievement. What drives you to keep showing up to the page?
Well, I’ve already been paid, so… LOL!! Seriously, it’s such and honor that readers love my stories. The fact that they’re eagerly awaiting the next book is a huge complement and motivation! And I’m very grateful the readers keep coming back for more.
Many of your books have hit multiple bestseller lists. What is it like for you each time that happens?
It’s always a thrill. It definitely never gets old!
Crossfire
What is the relationship between your faith and your writing? How do you weave together the two?
My faith comes out in the writing–in the characters’ lives–naturally, just like it does in my own life. At least I hope it does! I can’t just write a two-dimensional character because even people who claim they don’t have faith or don’t believe in God, still have that “hole” waiting to be filled. They’re still spiritual beings and I try to show that in my stories.
With having such an extensive backlist, you’ve written several different genres and subgenres. Do you have a favorite to write? And if not–what is it about these genres in particular that keep you coming back?
Actually, I’ve only written in one genre: Romantic Suspense. And that’s definitely my favorite to write.
Countdown is your forthcoming release—but it’s book four in the Extreme Measures series. What can you tell us about this series?
This series was a blast to write. I’m going to miss the characters terribly. I hope to revisit some of them in future novellas. But the series is about four friends who know each other from their teen years when they were all in juvie together.
Critical Treat
Because this series doesn’t follow a singular main character, I’d love for you to talk about the “connective tissue” of this series—what links them together?
The connective tissue is the friendship. They all met while serving time in juvie and made a promise to one another that they’d always be friends no matter where their lives and occupations took them. Turns out, it took them across the country and into various service occupations.
Countdown is a thrilling conclusion to Extreme Measures. How do you feel with the series drawing to a close?
I’m going to miss these characters. They’ve been so fun to get to know and hang out with. I definitely plan to revisit them.
