How did Season One of Murder in a Small Town end?
After a series of murders, Karl and his team finally figured out who was responsible. They tracked down the killer, and after a short standoff, took him into custody.
Despite having enough evidence to tie him to three murders, Karl wasn’t able to get more answers on how many other victims there were. Meanwhile, after a complicated romance, Karl and Cassandra finally reconciled.
All in all, it was a difficult run for Karl and the town of Gibsons, but ended on a happy note.

Fans will be happy to know that the couple will return in season two, along with Sergeant Sid Sokolowski (Aaron Douglas), Isabella Harbud (Savonna Spracklin), and Constable Andy Kendrick (Fritzy-Klevans Destine).
Noah Reid returns as the high school art teacher whose love of art drove him to commit a series of crimes. And the late Malcolm-Jamal Warner guest stars as a protective father who is suspected of murder.

The show is based on the Karl Alberg series by L.R. Wright.
The first book in the series, The Suspect, was an Edgar-winning debut novel and was what the first season was largely based off of. In total, there are nine books in the series, with the last book, Acts of Murder, published in 1997.
That’s good news for fans as it means there are plenty more adventures for Karl and Cassandra to embark on in future seasons.
