Leo season runs from July 23rd to August 22nd—a period which promises extra theatricality and passion.

As a fire sign, Leos are often warm and driven individuals, characterized by their creativity and ambition. However, that intense drive can make them come off as arrogant and self-centered.

Also known as the sign of the Lion, a Leo likes to have the spotlight on them, and they're not happy if they're not hailed as the best. But while they may all walk around with main character energy, they also prioritize fun with friends and will always make time for a good laugh.

When there's danger and schemes abound, a Leo is a friend who can help you bring some levity to every case.

From serial arson to charismatic cult leaders, here are the best mystery and thriller movies to watch if you're a Leo!

Glass Onion

Eccentric southern detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is invited to a private Greek island as old friends gather for a murder mystery party. But as the powerful guests butt heads, there's a very real murder for Benoit to untangle.

With their “King of the Jungle” mentality, Leos like to be the best of the best—a feeling most characters in this film can relate to.

But Leos will also be drawn to this movie by its flashy setting, creative humor, and fun with friends farce.

Octopussy

Nothing delivers spy action quite like a James Bond movie.

In this flick, a fake Fabergé egg found on a dead spy leads Bond (Roger Moore) to a jewel smuggling scheme. The jewel con is run by the enigmatic Octopussy (Maud Adams), who has an even worse plot up her sleeve: a plan to blow up a NATO air base.

James Bond is all about excess and pulling attention—two things a Leo goes crazy for.

Bond's creative problem-solving will delight these Lions, and the iconic cheese of this adventure will leave them tickled.

Backdraft

At the Chicago Fire Department, two brothers—experienced Lieutenant Stephen "Bull" McCaffrey (Kurt Russell) and rookie Probationary Firefighter Brian McCaffrey (William Baldwin)—are stuck in a personal feud.

However, after a series of arson attacks befall the city, they must put aside their differences to solve this dangerous mystery.

Sure, it's a little bit on the nose, but as a fire sign, a Leo is going to immediately be drawn to a movie that puts their guiding element in a central focus.

And like a Leo, the main characters' inflexibility with each other is almost more relentless than a roaring flame.

BlacKkKlansman

Inspired by true events, this film follows African American police officer Ron Stallworth (John David Washington). Using his voice over the phone to get close to the local branch of the Ku Klux Klan, he—with the help of white Jewish colleague Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver)—infiltrates the hate group to take them down.

Leos like to think that they're the exception to the rule—that they're the ones that can achieve the impossible. This film is a wonderful example of an exceptionally talented individual achieving just that.

And while the film deals with serious, complex themes, it also has plenty of laughter, which the sign of the Lion always looks for in favorite films.

Bad Times at the El Royale

In 1969, four strangers check into the once-iconic but now deserted El Royale Hotel. Each of these visitors have their own unique reasons for being there—but none of them are exactly who they appear to be.

Leo is probably the most likely sign to be a cult leader, and also the most likely to be a performer, so it's safe to say the colorful characters of this flick will resonate with them.
