Only Murders in the Building hit Hulu for the first time in August of 2021, and immediately captured viewers' hearts. The show's second season was just as captivating, shocking us with sordid twists, making us laugh at ridiculous antics, and plucking our heart strings with emotional interplay. As the show's third season is set to hit the streaming service on August 8th, many of us are excited to see what new characters will bring to the show. Still, we have our old favorites...
This mystery comedy is full of interesting, well-rounded, and deeply relatable characters. And some of us relate to them more than others? Have you ever wondered which character you might be? Victim? Murderer? Amateur sleuth? Look no further: here's which Only Murders in the Building character you are based on your zodiac sign.
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Jan Bellows
Jan Bellows (Amy Ryan) is a pretty important figure in season one of Only Murders in the Building—especially to her boyfriend, Charles-Haden Savage. She's a complex character: sweet and kooky on the outside, but with a propensity for a cruel and jealous rage beneath the surface. While she loves communication and connection, feeling like she's second best sends her into a destructive spiral.
Like Jan, the fire sign of Aries can be a bit hot-headed. The sign of the Ram are known to be confident, passionate, and enthusiastic, but that gusto can have a dangerous side. As impulsive as they are moody, Aries is one of the more aggressive signs.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Charles-Haden Savage
Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin) is a difficult man to get along with at a first meeting, generally misunderstanding his own importance. But when people stick around long enough, they discover that he's actually an incredibly kind and shy man. His social clumsiness is rooted in anxiety and a lack of self-confidence. This anxiety may be why he's so attached to ritual and routine (eggs, anyone?). But while he may be unsure about his own worth, he is a deeply loyal friend whose practicality often serves as the voice of reason.
Those born under the sign of Taurus are known to be uncompromising individuals who detest change. This earth sign is also referred to as the sign of the Bull—a good fit for these creatures of habit. They also happen to be the most reliable of the zodiac, and are highly praised for their stability, devotion, and responsibility. They do tend to crumble at the first hint of insecurity, however...
Gemini (May 21-June 21)
Poppy White
The air sign Gemini is also known as the sign of the Twin, known largely for its dual nature. On one hand, these individuals are nervous and indecisive. On the other hand, they're highly adaptable, able to learn quickly, and use their curiosity to break out of any box they feel stuck in.
Who better to represent this sign than Poppy White (Adina Verson) and her double life? One aspect of Poppy is a quiet, hardworking, jumpy assistant. But catch her in the right light, and you'll find someone with a sharp and deceptive cunning who will do anything to get noticed.
Cancer (June 22-July 22)
Alice Banks
Speaking of people who aren't quite who they seem, let's talk about Alice Banks (Cara Delevingne). While she uses art as a mode of loud expression, Alice is someone who would prefer to keep the details of her personal life close to her chest. As personable as she may seem, her disarming nature is just a way for her to wield the experiences of others for her own creative gain.
Cancers are emotional and tenacious individuals, and while that can mean that they're great helpers to friends, there's also a negative spin to be had. Let's not forget that this sign of the Crab has claws, after all. This water sign is known for being as manipulative as they are persuasive. Once they set a goal, their imagination will see to it that it is accomplished, in one way or another.

Leo (July 23-August 22)
Oliver Putnam
Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) is a man whose as annoying as he is lovable. While everything he does is steeped in narcissism, there's also an undeniable charisma to his interactions. His quest to be the center of attention often means the needs of others fall to the wayside, but when you can get him to focus, he brings a vital optimism and drive to every endeavor.
Like Oliver, Leos love being in the spotlight. As a fire sign, they are deeply passionate individuals, often pouring that fervor into creative pursuits (they love theater). While this sign of the Lion might have trouble seeing past their magnificent mane to the struggles of anyone else, they have a warm heart and sharp humor.
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Bunny Folger
Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell)—may she rest in peace—may not have liked our investigative trio very much, but she wasn't all bad. She's a woman who put an importance on protocol and the proper way of doing things, and she was known to get grumpy when people tried to bend the rules. But she had a hidden warmth that was revealed in the second season. She had a maternal sort of care for Ivan, her waiter at The Pickle Diner, and showed plenty of small acts of kindness to those living in the Arconia.
On the surface, Virgos may seem cold and controlling. It's certainly true that these critical analyzers like things done a certain way. However, most of the time it's in the hope that things run smoothly for the ones they care about. As an earth sign, Virgos are incredibly loyal. And as the sign of the Maiden, they have a tendency to try and take care of everyone, putting that duty before fun.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Tim Kono
We mostly learn about Tim Kono's (Julian Cihi) character through flashbacks and secondhand accounts, considering he's the victim of the murder that kicks off the series. Mabel describes him as "sensible" and asserts that in all the time that she's known him, he only told one lie, and that was out of fear. As the first season unfolds, we learn that, despite his mistake in implicating his friend in a crime, he has dedicated his life to making things right. His pursuit of justice became an obsession—until the day he died.
Libra is known as the sign of the Scales, a beacon for justice. This air sign hates violence and unfairness, and is a fierce proponent of harmony. Despite their strong morals, Libras aren't fond of direct confrontations. They work better behind the scenes with facts and diplomacy rather than protests and arguments.
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Mabel Mora
Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) is a tough nut to crack. She can be cagey about her past, leaving people unsure if some of the things she says are the full truth—or true at all. By her own admission, she has a tough time getting close to people, but once someone gets their foot in the door, Mabel is a loyal friend. She's also an incredible amateur sleuth, with well-rounded intelligence and sharp instincts.
Scorpio is the sign of the Scorpion, a water sign which doesn't have the best reputation in the zodiac. After all, cross them and you'll get the stinger. But as difficult and distrustful as they can be, they are also incredibly powerful individuals. You'll never find someone more brave or resourceful, and when they let themselves share parts of their life, they can be fiercely devoted companions.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
Cinda Canning
Popular true crime podcast host Cinda Canning (Tina Fey) seems to be a brilliant and benevolent investigator. However, as viewers learn more about her, she's exposed as a mean-spirited, arrogant entertainer. Opposed to her heroic persona, she's really just willing to spin a tale that keeps people interested, rather than a tale that is true.
Sagittarius is also known as the sign of the Archer. This fire sign loves freedom and hates anything that imposes limits upon them. They don't concern themselves with the little details of things and have a tendency to say whatever they want to. While those born under Sagittarius have a great sense of humor, they also have a tendency to promise more than they can deliver...
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Detective Donna Williams
Detective Donna Williams (Da'Vine Joy Randolph) is a down-to-business cop who takes her job incredibly seriously. While she's not exactly a fan of Charles, Oliver, and Mabel, she puts her annoyance aside to get to the bottom of the truth when the story they're spinning starts to make sense. And for all her toughness at work, she's soft for her growing family.
The earth sign of Capricorn is also known as the sign of the Sea Goat. Capricorns are the disciplined individuals of the zodiac. While they can sometimes come off as condescending, they ultimately lean into responsibility and charge ahead to get things done. Though they're a little surly about most things at one point or another, they have a lot of love for the ones close to them.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
Lucy
Adding a youthful edge to the second season of Only Murders in the Building, Lucy (Zoe Colletti) is the daughter of Charles' ex-girlfriend. Though she's not the most well-behaved teenager—skipping school and hiding out in Charles' apartment—Lucy is taking charge of her own life. She's a bright girl, and very forward-thinking if her commentary on mental health and gender/sexuality are anything to go by.
Aquarius is an air sign also known as the Water Bearer. Those born under this sign tend to be progressive humanitarians. They also have a tendency to be incredibly independent and individualistic. They are motormouths a lot of the time—especially when conversations turn intellectual—and often find themselves getting into a bit of trouble.
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
Oscar Torres
Pisces is a water sign. While water signs are often more delicate, the sign of the Fish is seen as the softest of the zodiac. While they are compassionate, the difficulties of the world have them eager to find a way to escape reality. Though they are gentle and loving, they can sometimes be consumed by fear. Their biggest nightmare is the past coming back to haunt them, and their overly trusting hearts can lead them down a path of victimhood or martyrdom.
Oscar Torres spent a decade in prison for a murder he didn't commit. Despite that horrible ordeal, he came out the other side as a warm-hearted, supportive person. He tries to distance himself from Mabel's investigation, since he's not eager to poke at old wounds. Still, he helped when he could, while focusing more on getting his life back on track than clearing his name.
