For many of us mystery lovers, our passion for cracking cases came from watching our favorite cartoon, Scooby-Doo. This franchise, taking on any different title variations across it's different series and films, premiered in 1969 as Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

Whether cartoon or live action, half an hour or feature length, Scooby-Doo was always recognizable by a few core things: meddlesome kid detectives, supernatural mysteries (phony or otherwise), and their beloved talking dog.

With a new live action series, Scooby-Doo: Origins, coming soon to Netflix aiming at exploring the beginnings of the Scooby gang, we're feeling pretty nostalgic. But what to do when you've already binge-watched every possible Scooby media available?

Here are seven fun mystery books like Scooby-Doo!

By Edgar Cantero

In 1977 in a small mining town in Oregon, four teenage friends spent the summer solving mysteries, calling themselves the Blyton Summer Detective Club. Andy, Nate, Kerri, Peter, and their dog, Tim the Weimaraner, ended their summer catching the notorious Sleepy Lake monster.

The culprit was unmasked as a low-level thief attempting to steal the fortune hidden in Deboen Mansion, and those “meddling kids” were responsible for sending him to prison.

By 1990, the group had grown apart, and each of their lives had been badly affected by the frightening memories from that case years ago. Something had happened to them that was much more horrifying than catching a common criminal in a mask.

Unable to cope any longer, Andy decides to reach out to the group and convince them to return to Sleepy Lake to investigate what really happened to them. Only by facing their demons can they save themselves and quite possibly save the world.
