With so many streaming services out there and so many offerings on each one, it can be difficult to sift through and find the content you want.
Luckily, we at Murder & Mayhem have done the detective work for you.
While it's not one of the biggest streaming platforms out there, Peacock has a wonderful selection of highly entertaining shows. And their mysteries and thrillers are truly some of the best around.
Whether you want to settle in with a quirky comedy or buckle in for a tense family tale, here are eight of the best mystery and thriller shows on Peacock!
Based on a True Story
It's no secret that true crime is a hot topic for viewers right now, and the comedy thriller series Based on a True Story follows three people looking to capitalize on the craze.
Pregnant real estate agent Ava Bartlett (Kaley Cuoco) loves the dangerous rush of true crime. The thrills start to hit too close to home when Ava, her husband Nathan (Chris Messina), and their charming plumber-turned-friend Matt (Tom Bateman) are dragged into the middle of an ongoing serial killer case.
After the death of a local bartender, the three of them start up a podcast to unravel the truth firsthand.
The Lost Symbol
Based on the popular Dan Brown novel of the same name, this tale follows The Da Vinci Code's Robert Langdon (portrayed originally by Tom Hanks, but revisited by Ashley Zukerman in this series) in his earlier days.
After his mentor Peter Solomon (Eddie/Suzy Izzard) goes missing, Robert is brought in by the CIA to solve a series of complex puzzles.
The Resort
Noah (William Jackson Harper) and Emma (Cristin Milioti) are a married couple who have chosen to celebrate their 10th anniversary on vacation in the Mayan Riviera.
While Noah is complacent with their life and Emma is feeling like they're stuck in place, their romance finds some extra turbulence when a 15-year-old missing persons case introduces new problems in their marriage.
Dr. Death
If medical thrillers are your cup of tea, then you'll love this anthology series which dramatizes the real-life tales of doctors whose ambitions had disastrous and deadly consequences.
The first season follows American neurosurgeon Christopher Duntsch (Joshua Jackson), whose surgical methods caused permanent mutilation and death. The second season follows Italian surgeon and medical researcher Paolo Macchiarini (Edgar Ramírez), who used his patients as experiments.
A Friend of the Family
Dramatizing a harrowing true crime story, this miniseries follows the Broberg family.
In the 1970s, young Jan Broberg (Hendrix Yancey & Mckenna Grace) was kidnapped multiple times by Robert Berchtold (Jake Lacy), a charismatic close friend of the family.
Psych
While this hilarious 8-season mystery comedy isn't a Peacock original, it's three (soon to be four) subsequent movies are.
Shawn Spencer (James Roday Rodriguez) makes a living as a psychic consultant for the Santa Barbara Police Department. The only problem is, he isn't a psychic.
With the help of his exceptional powers of observation and his best friend Gus (Dulé Hill), Shawn manages to maintain his ruse and keep the city a little bit safer. Of course, plenty of hijinks ensue along the way.
Apples Never Fall
Life seems good for Stan (Sam Neill) and Joy Delaney (Annette Bening), a pair of tennis coaches who sell their school to embark on the journey of retirement.
But when Joy goes missing, Stan and their four adult children must re-examine their family history as old secrets begin to rise to the surface.
The Capture
Former British army Lance Corporal Shaun Emery (Callum Turner) has been accused of the kidnapping and murder of a barrister, with CCTV evidence supporting the charge.
While Emery desperately races to clear his name, Detective Inspector Rachel Carey (Holliday Grainger) does her own investigating, finding the tangled threads of a deep conspiracy.
